The situation.
Detect’s shareholders, Andy Derrick and Chris Ellis, first asked Leith M&A to help them grow by acquisition, widening their reach across the south east and into the residential market.
Our approach.
A tailored search of the fire and security market across the south east, followed by confidential approaches to suitable targets.
Detect’s interest in Oakpark (Dorset) Limited led its owners to appoint Leith M&A to sell their business. We approached 49 companies and signed NDAs with 16.
Detect returned with a renewed offer, and Leith M&A supported Oakpark’s shareholders through heads of terms to completion.
When Detect’s shareholders later decided to sell, we introduced them to Churches Fire & Security, a buyer we already knew well.
What made it difficult.
Acting for the same clients as acquirers, then opposite them as the seller’s adviser, and finally on their own exit, meant earning trust from every side of the table over many years.
The outcome.
Detect’s sale to Churches Fire & Security completed successfully. It was our second sale to Churches in seven months.
